As we enter the next phase of exciting growth plans, we have an exciting opportunity to join us as our Commercial Director. This is a full-time, based onsite in Stroud role and will be responsible for driving sustainable growth, market expansion, and overall commercial strategy by connecting the digital customer journey with the customer experience. It will own the digital platform as a core revenue engine, aligning product, IT, marketing, and growth to deliver continuous improvement in conversion, retention, and average order value through data-led decision making.
With leadership across Marketing, Growth, Product and IT, it will define clear channel strategies, and drive commercial performance through rapid development, strong cross-functional alignment, and real-time insight into revenue and customer behaviour. Provide direct leadership, coaching and performance management, ensuring strategic alignment to commercial objectives. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development within teams. Foster a speed-focused, test-and-learn environment by establishing rapid testing frameworks across campaigns, UX, and offers, alongside short feedback loops, while setting clear expectations that prioritise speed over perfection in commercial execution.
Data Development and Commercial Insight
- Develop real-time commercial dashboards to provide in depth commercial insight and revenue visibility including revenue by channel, conversion rates and drop off points.
- Working with stakeholders across the business to drive data as a priority and be able to make informed decisions about future strategy.
- Leverage data effectively to optimise funnel performance and maximise ROI across channels.
Digital Performance and Customer Experience
- Develop and own digital performance strategy to include website UX/UI (in partnership with IT/Product), conversion optimisation, checkout, basket, and reorder journeys with the aim of optimising the customer experience.
Digital Platform / Economic Engine Leadership
- Operate as the commercial owner of the digital platform, positioning the website as a core revenue engine.
- Define and drive the platform roadmap through a commercial lens, prioritising features based on revenue impact, while ensuring rapid speed to market and continuous development with each iteration.
- Build systems that make it easy for practitioners to recommend and earn through driving basket sales, shareable shopping carts and use of discount codes, positioning practitioners as a growth channel, as well as a customer.
- Define and manage the practitioner vs direct vs affiliate channel strategy, ensuring that there is no erosion of practitioner trust, whilst working within clear commercial boundaries.
- Own and drive key ecommerce performance metrics, including conversion rate optimisation (CRO), customer lifetime value (CLTV), and average order value (AOV), with a focus on maximising revenue, improving customer retention, and enhancing overall user experience.
- Transition from the “one off” campaign strategy to ongoing and interactive experiences (behaviour loops) that encourage repetition and increased community engagement.
- Ensure brand positioning reflects scientific credibility and practitioner trust.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a senior commercial role (e.g., Commercial Director, Head of Sales).
- Demonstrated experience in developing strategies centred around digital platforms.
- Confident in creating commercial data sets and commentary to provide insights.
- Deep understanding of practitioner-led sales models.
- Commercial acumen with strong financial and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of modern marketing, digital growth, and demand generation.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building abilities.
Whilst we appreciate the benefits of flexibility and working in a hybrid way, we are looking for someone that can be in the office on a full time basis, as an important part of this role will be building those relationships with the teams that it will be managing. There may be the opportunity for occasional hybrid work as the role develops and the successful candidate becomes embedded in the business, but we wouldn't envisage this for at least the first year or so in role.
