Role Overview: As the Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of the nursery, ensuring that it operates smoothly, efficiently, and in line with The Natural Childcare Company's high standards. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the nursery's educational experience, fostering a positive and nurturing environment for both children and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Lead and motivate a passionate team of early years educators, providing guidance, support, and ongoing development opportunities. Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals, and training sessions to promote a culture of professional growth.
  • Curriculum and Pedagogical Leadership: Oversee the delivery of a high-quality, child-centered curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and The Natural Childcare Company's holistic approach to education. Ensure that activities are engaging, age-appropriate, and foster curiosity and creativity.
  • Operations and Administration: Ensure the nursery operates efficiently, maintaining accurate records, managing schedules, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and health & safety requirements. Manage the nursery budget and financial aspects, ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Safeguarding and Wellbeing: Take responsibility for the safeguarding of all children within the setting. Implement and oversee safeguarding policies, conduct risk assessments, and ensure that staff are trained to spot and act on potential safeguarding concerns.
  • Parental Engagement and Communication: Build strong relationships with parents and families, maintaining open, professional communication. Lead parent meetings, provide regular updates on children's progress, and foster a sense of community within the nursery.
  • Quality Improvement: Regularly assess and evaluate nursery operations and outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement. Lead the nursery through Ofsted inspections and support with action planning to maintain high inspection ratings.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure the nursery environment is safe, secure, and stimulating, complying with health and safety regulations. Oversee risk assessments and take proactive measures to create a safe environment for both children and staff.
  • Sustainability and Eco-conscious Practices: Lead initiatives to promote sustainability within the nursery, incorporating eco-friendly practices and teaching children about the natural world and sustainability in a hands-on, engaging way.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a nursery management role or similar, with a strong understanding of early years education and care.
  • Level 3 or above qualification in Early Years Education or related field (Degree or equivalent is desirable).
  • In-depth knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and best practices in early years education.
  • Experience leading, managing, and developing a team of staff, with the ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A passion for promoting sustainability, outdoor play, and the natural world as part of children's development.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for children.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
