The National Piping Centre promotes the study, music, and history of the Highland Bagpipe, serving as a national and international center of excellence for this iconic Scottish instrument. Located in Glasgow, near the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Centre includes a school, rehearsal spaces, an auditorium, the Museum of Piping, a reference library, and hospitality facilities such as a hotel and restaurant. With state-of-the-art resources, the Centre offers learning and performance opportunities for a wide range of audiences, from enthusiasts to professional pipers, and attracts visitors worldwide. It continues to celebrate and uphold the rich cultural heritage of Scotland's national instrument.
Job Purpose
The Curriculum and Quality Assurance Coordinator will support the Learning & Development Lead in the development, review, and continuous enhancement of curriculum delivery and quality assurance processes across the organisation. The role ensures programmes meet awarding body, regulatory, and internal quality standards, while aligning with the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). The postholder will work collaboratively with teachers, assessors, internal verifiers, curriculum developers, scrutineers, and management teams to maintain high standards of learner experience, compliance, academic integrity, and continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree, HND, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant subject area.
- SCQF Level 6 qualification in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
- Experience working within Further Education, training, employability, apprenticeship, or community learning sectors in Scotland.
- Experience of curriculum development, programme planning, delivery support, or quality assurance processes.
- Experience working with Qualifications Scotland qualifications and quality systems.
- Experience conducting internal verification or quality monitoring activities.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of Qualifications Scotland, SCQF, and Scottish education and training frameworks.
- Understanding of quality assurance systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong organisational, administrative, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
- Strong digital and IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, learner management systems, and digital learning platforms.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
Location Glasgow (Hybrid/Remote working available where appropriate)
Reports To £27k pro-rata 0.6fte / 21 hours per week
