The National Gallery is seeking a Photographic Archive Digitisation Assistant on a fixed term contract until the end of March 2026, to assist with the preparation of material for digitisation as part of the gallery’s Digital Dossier Programme (DDP), an ambitious research infrastructure and knowledge-enabling change programme that aims to make ‘everything we know about our pictures available to everyone’.

The project began in 2023 and while 44,000 large format photographic assets have already been digitised, the small and medium format transparency collection is still to be assessed and a selection catalogued, rehoused and prepared for digitisation.

The role holder will work closely with the DDP Archive Assistant and Photography and Imaging Manager to ensure each digitisation and audit workflow is delivered against best practice, as detailed by the Photography and Imaging Manager.

This is a fully on-site role, 5 days a week.
