NFYFC is seeking two trustees with substantial experience in the charity or not‑for‑profit sector to join its Board and help drive the delivery of our five‑year strategy.

Key Expertise Areas

  • Communications, Strategic Engagement, Media – A specialist in Communications / Strategic Engagement / Media Management to elevate the organisation’s profile, influence and credibility.
  • Youthwork, Safeguarding – A specialist in Youthwork or Safeguarding to strengthen our mission to support young people through high‑quality, inclusive youth work and safeguarding practice.

The roles combine strategic oversight with hands‑on support. Trustees are expected to work constructively with the Executive team and guide the organisation to deliver its aims.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of NFYFC’s strategy.
  • Support strong charity governance, including strategic communications and engagement OR youthwork/safeguarding.
  • Provide informed challenge and practical advice to the Board and Executive team.
  • Assist in maintaining confidence of funders, regulators and stakeholders.
  • Fulfil the legal duties of a charity trustee and contribute fully to Board decision‑making.

You’ll bring

  • Significant experience within the charity or not‑for‑profit sector.
  • A strong understanding of charity governance, compliance, and strategic communications or youthwork/safeguarding.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and pragmatically.
  • A collaborative, supportive approach and willingness to contribute beyond board meetings.
  • An interest in supporting young people, rural communities, or membership‑led organisations.
  • Previous trustee experience is desirable but not essential.

Time commitment

  • Board meetings (typically 6 per year – a mix of online and physical meetings).
  • Additional involvement as needed to support the delivery of the strategy.
