Here in the newly expanded NFU Mutual Ilminster agency, we\’re looking for an ambitious professional in South Somerset with a proven commercial sales background to join the existing leadership team as the lead Partner for the agency\’s Commercial Insurance business. You\’ll join a successful agency with a loyal client base and a supportive team around you. This is the perfect career step into your first leadership appointment. With the support of highly experienced Partners and agency staff, you\’ll help steer a £multi-million Financial Services business to new heights, continuing the agency\’s successful growth trajectory.
Responsibilities
- Building and nurturing existing Commercial client relationships with key decision makers, ensuring high renewal rates are maintained with unrivalled customer care.
- Delivering new business growth across an expanding range of Commercial Lines products, targeting SMEs and Mid-Corporates in key commercial sectors.
- Supporting with the overall agency management, from business planning to driving commercial performance.
- Playing a supportive role in the local farming community as a representative of the NFU, including hands‑on support for NFU farming members, organising events, and local county shows.
- Representing the NFU Group as Secretary responsible for the Yeovil patch: championing the interests of local farmers, arranging meetings and events, recruiting and retaining members, and keeping them up‑to‑date on agricultural policy.
Qualifications
- A B2B (SME/Mid‑Corp/Commercial) sales professional with consultative sales, business development and key account management experience, preferably in a regulated sector.
- Strong commercial acumen with credibility to operate in the boardroom, advising Business Owners, Directors and senior decision makers across a diverse range of sectors.
- Leadership potential and attitude: ambition, accountability, good work ethic, and a growth mindset to develop into a high‑performing strategic business leader.
- Personal interest or connection with the farming community or rural life, as you\’ll have hands‑on duties for the NFU as Group Secretary responsible for the Yeovil patch.
