Provide essential operational and administrative support to Underwriting and wider business teams.
Part time, permanent vacancy (21 hours per week - to include a Friday). Based in Bristol or York, with hybrid working and regular office presence.
About the role:
This is a varied and important support role within our Operational Support team, which plays a key part in helping our Underwriting teams and wider business operate smoothly and efficiently. As an Operational Support Administrator, you will be part of a team that sits at the heart of the business, handling a wide range of administrative and operational activities that directly support the customer journey and internal decision making. The work you do helps ensure policies are processed accurately, underwriting activity runs smoothly, and colleagues across the organisation have the support they need to do their jobs well.
You will support colleagues by managing a range of tasks that sit alongside policy administration and system changes. This includes updating policy information, inputting information from customers, handling inbound and outbound post, and responding to requests from internal teams. As systems evolve and new work transitions into the team, you will help bridge gaps where manual intervention is still required, making attention to detail and organisation especially important.
Day-to-day tasks can vary, and no two days are the same; one day you might be focused on data and system-based tasks, while another could involve coordinating requests from Underwriting, Claims or other internal teams. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys variety, likes understanding how different parts of a business connect, and wants to develop a supportive, team-based environment. Full training is provided, and there are opportunities to develop skills over time as confidence grows.
If based in Bristol, you will provide reception cover, and so more presence in the office will be required. Regardless of location, you will be a go-to point of contact for queries, known for being approachable, helpful and reliable. This role can be based out of York, or Bristol. Regardless of location, you will work two days in the office, and the rest of your hours from home. We understand how important a positive work-life balance is to you, so we offer great facilities when you want to be in an office environment and support to work some of your hours from home. To help you give your best in the office and at home, we are also open to discussing what part-time hours might look like for you.
You enjoy supporting others, keeping things organised and learning new processes. You do not need to come from an insurance background. What matters most is your approach to work and willingness to learn.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in a customer service, retail, hospitality or office-based environment – essential
- Confidence using technology, including navigating spreadsheets, filtering, and data entry tasks
- A clear and approachable communication style
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- A collaborative approach and enjoyment of working as part of a team
- A positive learning mindset and openness to developing new skills
- Previous administrative experience or experience working in a high-volume environment is helpful but not essential. We provide training and support to help you succeed.
