The National Botanic Garden of Wales (NBGW), established in May 2000, is a registered charity and company limitedby guarantee dedicated to plant science, conservation, sustainability, education, and Welsh cultural heritage.As one of Wales' leading visitor attractions, it welcomes over 214,000 visits annuall and is home to the world-renowned Great Glasshouse, a national nature reserve, and an organic farm. With a team of around 100 staff in peakseason, the support of up to 250 volunteers contributing over 30,000 volunteer hours each year, and a vibrantcommunity of 11,000 members, the Garden generates approximately Β£4 million in annual income.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for producing NBGW and Middleton Garden Limited (MGL) monthlymanagement accounts:Maintain the Fixed Asset Register0 Review and finalise the departmental and organisation wide Income and Expendituremanagement financial and narrative reportsReview and finalise the balance sheet reconciliations Meet with department heads to review their department's management accounts
  • Responsible for producing ad hoc financial analysis and management reporting such as grantapplications
  • Support the Head of Finance with tax compliance reporting across corporation tax, P11Ds andVAT and gift aid.
  • Support the Head of Finance with budgeting and forecasting and scenario planning.
  • Support the Head of Finance with the annual financial accounts and audit preparation.
  • Support the Head of Finance with compliance reporting such as to the Office of NationalStatistics
  • Such other duties as from time to time you may reasonably be allocated.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • A recognised accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
  • IT skills: Excel Sage accounting software
  • Excellent Communication and presentation skills

Experience

  • Finance Team experience, working as a managementaccountant

  • Ability to handle information confidentially

Additional requirements
