This is a part-time position for an organised, creative, confident and proactive individual, based in or near Manchester/Northwest, who will be responsible for running The Natalie Kate Moss Trust’s Community Blood Pressure Awareness Days.
ABOUT THE NATALIE KATE MOSS TRUST
The Natalie Kate Moss Trust was established in 2012 by the Moss family following the unexpected passing of Natalie at the age of 26 due to a sudden brain haemorrhage (haemorrhagic stroke). The trust's mission is to transform this tragedy into something positive by supporting groundbreaking research on the prevention and treatment of brain haemorrhages, aiming to prevent further tragedies. Every year, there are 4.6 million cases of brain haemorrhages and sadly only 3 out of 5 patients will survive beyond one month after experiencing one, with 3 million deaths occurring every year. This is why this work is so incredibly important to prevent as many brain haemorrhages from happening in the first place and to find better treatments to improve the outcome when they do happen.
OUR PREVENTION CAMPAIGN
Not all brain haemorrhages can be prevented; but some can be. At The Natalie Kate Moss Trust we aim to Prevent the Preventable. We firmly believe that we can prevent more, potentially preventable, tragedies from occurring through educating and empowering more people to better understand why brain haemorrhages happen so that they can take back control of their own health. High blood pressure can cause damage to the blood vessels in the brain over time, and, therefore, managing your blood pressure is immensely important to avoid such damage. On average, a third of the population has high blood pressure, but 50% of those people are undiagnosed and therefore at risk of brain haemorrhage. If we can individually understand, check and manage our blood pressure better, we are able to significantly reduce the risk of having a bleed on the brain.

- Blood Pressure Awareness Days (we run a stand in various locations and speak to passers-by about the importance of blood pressure and check their blood pressure on the day)

- Bringing Blood Pressure to the PSHE curriculum in schools
- Making blood pressure checks more available at Optometrists appointments
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will take full responsibility for our Awareness Days in Greater Manchester/Northwest, working closely with NKMT Director, Fiona, and the NKMT team to drive growth in this area. The aim of this role is to speak to the general public about their blood pressure and offer them blood pressure checks to help identify cases of high blood pressure. All training is provided.
- Plan, organise and run three awareness days each month (aim to test a minimum of 300 people PCM = 3600 people per annum) - one day per month for planning
- Organise and train volunteers for each event and consistently review volunteer strategy to ensure consistent flow of high-quality volunteers
- Collect data from each event and send a report to Fiona.
- Continuously review opportunities to improve the event; how can we reach more people?
There is an opportunity for this role to expand as we roll out this initiative to other regions in the UK.

- Must have the ability to store the equipment used for Awareness days
- Needs to be engaged and aligned with core mission to save lives from brain haemorrhages
