Gardening can be a great way to stay active and enhance your wellbeing in nature. The Museum of Power is looking for volunteer gardeners to help us care for the Museum gardens and grounds.
The Museum of Power reopened to the public in 2024 with large grounds, river and woodland. The redevelopment included beautiful borders created by our garden volunteers surrounding the new visitor entrance. Join the team to be part of the next phase of development, thinking about how people will use our wider outdoor spaces in the future.
You might be entirely new to gardening or a seasoned professional, you just need an interest in gardening and happy doing physical work outside. This is a great opportunity to build your knowledge of gardening and meet people with similar interests.
In this role you will:

Take part in seasonal planting and growing of our borders and planters

Help maintain the gardens, including weeding, pruning, watering and clearing leaves

Use landscaping equipment to cut back hedges and grass
-
Work with other volunteers to research and implement environmentally sustainable approaches to gardening

Contribute ideas to the annual planting group and development of our outdoor spaces

We host a gardening group on Wednesdays 9:30am – 2:00pm when you can work with other volunteers. Alternatively, you can drop in and garden independently for as long as you like on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays between 9:30am – 4:00pm.
