We opened the first 5* Hotel in Liverpool; The Municipal Hotel & Spa MGallery in May 2023 and have reset the clock within this historic building, bringing it back to life. A Day in the Life of an Assistant Night Manager at The Municipal Hotel & Spa MGallery

As the Assistant Night Manager, you play a pivotal role in leading our overnight operation, upholding the refined standards of the Municipal MGallery. Whilst supporting the Night Manager, you will also independently lead overnight shifts during the Night Manager’s days off, acting as the senior decision‑maker and Manager on duty. In this role, you ensure the transition from day to night remains seamless and invisible to our guests. You will take full responsibility for guest safety, financial accuracy through the Night Audit, and the leadership of the night team, delivering calm, confident leadership throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overnight hotel operation in the absence of the Night Manager
  • Uphold the MGallery “Memorable Moments” philosophy throughout the night
  • Ensure consistency of five‑star service standards across all overnight touchpoints
  • Manage and complete the Night Audit with absolute accuracy when leading shifts
  • Ensure all financial reporting is precise, compliant, and completed on time
  • Deliver seamless departmental handovers to the morning management team
  • Act as the primary point of contact for overnight guests when leading shifts
  • Manage late arrivals, early departures, and guest concerns with polished empathy
  • Resolve issues calmly and professionally, reflecting luxury brand standards
  • Act as the designated overnight Fire Marshall and Health & Safety lead when required
  • Conduct regular security patrols of the hotel and historic premises
  • Ensure the safety, security, and well‑being of guests, colleagues, and property
  • Provide direction, coaching, and support to colleagues during independent shifts
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, excellence and care

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a Front Office or Nights supervisory role within a luxury or five‑star hotel
  • Proven ability to manage overnight operations independently
  • Strong proficiency in PMS systems (Opera Cloud preferred) and Night Audit procedures
  • Confident decision‑maker with a calm, reassuring leadership style
  • Passionate about luxury hospitality and delivering personalized guest experiences
