The Role
- Ensure waste systems are implemented effectively and legal requirements are upheld
- Oversee the transportation of waste entering and leaving the site to ensure all paperwork is complete
- Assist the Site Manager with various tasks
- Assist with site needs, including cleaning the site and tram and train units
- Load, unload, move and pack materials
- Load and offload materials onto and off pallets
- Ensure load is safe whilst transporting goods around the site
- Observe and comply with quality, environment, health, and safety procedures
- Carry out routine and maintenance checks on the forklift
- Report to Site Manager
- Keep working area tidy, removing all debris to rightful place and not leaving it hanging around the site
- Recognise and report any mechanical or electrical faults
- Understand that a waste operative may have a varied day depending on the Site Manager’s priorities
- Assess skip levels across the site to pre-book skip exchanges and keep a steady flow of available skips on site
- Complete relevant paperwork to ensure compliance with skip movements on the site
- Use computers to upload relevant paperwork and book exchanges with suppliers
