About the Role
We are seeking a Business Unit Administrator to join our team in Derby. We are looking for a customer-focused team player with strong organisational skills and attention to detail who is committed to delivering excellent service to our clients. You will work as part of an experienced team supporting our materials testing operations, reporting directly to the General Manager. Our workload is varied and engaging, with excellent exposure to the construction industry and materials testing sector, managing administrative functions that directly support field operations and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Take bookings via phone and email from clients across various construction and infrastructure projects
- Manage diary system jointly with the General Manager to coordinate site visits and testing schedules
- Maintain professional client liaison and communication throughout project lifecycles
- Issue detailed site instructions to field technicians (primarily Friday afternoons, with updates as required)
- Compile comprehensive reports for management review and client requirements
- Coordinate day-to-day liaison with field technicians to ensure smooth operations
- Prepare and issue invoices for materials testing services accurately and promptly
- Check and record technicians\\\β timesheets on a weekly basis for month-end processing
- Place orders for materials, equipment and consumables required for testing operations
- Provide general administrative support to ensure efficient business operations
- Assist with project coordination and communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and suppliers
- Help maintain compliance with company policies and quality standards
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential Requirements
- Customer focused with demonstrated strong customer relations skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook essential)
- Highly organised with proven ability to multitask effectively and prioritise workload
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and work under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Professional telephone manner for client interactions
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in administrative tasks
Desirable
- Experience working in construction, engineering, or technical services industry

Salary And Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of up to Β£30,000 per annum and provide a supportive working environment including:
- 40 hour working week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am β 5:00pm
