We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated senior claims professional to join our busy Legal Department and lead our claims function within the department. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in maritime and personal injury claims, ideally within the cruise industry, and will be confident managing a broad range of shipping-related and complex personal injury matters on an autonomous basis. The role involves regular liaison with external lawyers, insurers, agencies, ship command and internal stakeholders, as well as the day-to-day management and development of the claims team.
Your Impact
- Provides management of Admiralty Matters and Personal Injury Claims
- Gives assistance to Marine Operations and shipboard staff on operational matters
- Corresponds with opponent lawyers, medical and crew departments, P&I Insurers, Agents and P&I Correspondents
- Provides trends and claims dates relating to pending matters, maritime claims and personal injury cases and budgeting for potential costs
- Updates senior management and Head Office on all claim matters
- Liaises with the Insurance function in Head Office with regards to insurance renewals
- On-call availability in the event of urgent claims
- Occasional national and international travel required
Your Journey so far
- Maritime and legal experience required, ideally with a legal qualification or significant experience working in a claims role in an insurer or shipowner
- Sound knowledge of shipping agreements and crew employment contracts
- Knowledge of Personal Injury claims matters, ideally in the cruise industry
- Knowledge of marine insurance policy wordings
- Line management experience
Your Essentials
- Fluent English language skills (knowledge of a second language would be an advantage)
