We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the proactive and reactive maintenance and operation of buildings, plant and equipment at Pentlands Science Park. This is a key role ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant 24/7 operation of a diverse estate including offices, laboratories, animal containment facilities and agricultural buildings.
Reporting to the Science Park Manager, you will manage and support the Engineering and Facilities teams, oversee external contractors, and deliver a high-quality, cost-effective facilities management service to the Moredun Group and tenant organisations on site. You will also contribute to strategic planning, project delivery, and continuous improvement of facilities services across the Park.
Experience required
- Relevant facilities management or engineering qualification, or significant experience in a similar role
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, BMS, PPM, HVAC, hot and cold-water systems, and building fabric maintenance
- Strong health and safety management experience, including CDM regulations and safe systems of work
- Experience managing teams and external contractors
- Experience of budget management, procurement and invoice authorisation
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
Ideal candidate experience
- Experience of specialist environments such as laboratories, containment or pressurised facilities
- Knowledge of systems such as autoclaves, emergency lighting and specialist building services
