The predicted salary is between 24000 - 30000 £ per year.

We are looking for a practical, proactive and customer‑focused Facilities Assistant to join our Facilities team. This is a varied, hands‑on role supporting the smooth running of our site, Pentlands Science Park, which includes laboratories, offices, farm environments, and estate grounds.

As a key member of the Facilities team, you will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient and welcoming environment across the park. You will provide essential support to colleagues, tenants, contractors and visitors, helping ensure day‑to‑day operations run effectively. This is a diverse role offering a mix of maintenance, grounds, logistics, and customer‑facing responsibilities – no two days are the same.

Experience required

  • Experience in a maintenance or construction/property environment
  • Strong handyman skills and ability to use tools and equipment safely
  • Good understanding of health & safety (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

In addition to the above, the ideal candidate will also have:

  • Grounds maintenance or horticulture experience
  • Experience operating plant or machinery (e.g., tractor)
  • Awareness of facilities management systems
