SCOPE & GENERAL PURPOSE

The Security Team Leader plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, colleagues, and property. As a highly visible presence across the hotel, the role is responsible for monitoring, preventing, and responding to safety and security risks with professionalism, discretion, and efficiency. This position requires close coordination with hotel management and external emergency services to ensure that all guests and employees enjoy a secure, welcoming environment in line with Montcalm Collection’s commitment to excellence.

    • Identifies risks quickly and applies sound judgment in decision-making.
    • De-escalates conflict and ensures guest and staff welfare.
  • Compliance & Responsibility
    • Follows all hotel policies, legal requirements, and health & safety procedures.
    • Participates in training and drills to ensure readiness for emergency scenarios.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise the security team, building and managing the shift rota, running briefings, and coordinating daily deployment.
  • Respond swiftly to incidents, alarms, and emergencies, investigating and escalating where necessary.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, and hotel security systems, maintaining accurate records, logs, and reports.
  • Support and train hotel staff on security, fire, and health & safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular patrols and risk assessments across guest, colleague, and back-of-house areas.
  • Manage access control, key control, and lost property procedures in line with hotel policy.
  • Liaise with law enforcement, fire authorities, and management, ensuring compliance with all hotel policies and legal requirements.
  • Lead on fire evacuation drills and act as a key holder for emergency response.
  • Support the General Manager and department heads with security planning for VIP visits, events, and out-of-hours operations.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in a security role, ideally within a hotel, hospitality, or customer-facing environment.
  • Supervisory or team leader experience, with the confidence to guide, coach, and motivate others.
  • A working knowledge of fire safety, health & safety, and security best practices (SIA licence, First Aid, or Fire Marshal training an advantage).
  • Calm, clear-headed decision-making under pressure, with strong incident-reporting and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work a 4-on/4-off day shift pattern, including weekends and public holidays as part of the rota.
  • Confidence to build and manage a fair, well-balanced team rota.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Shift-based role operating on 4 days on, 4 days off schedule, requiring flexibility to work weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Active, guest-facing role requiring a professional appearance. Uniform will be provided.
  • The role involves standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods, with occasional physical demands when responding to incidents.
