Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of all conference, wedding and event facilities across the hotel.
- Ensure all events are delivered in line with function sheets, timings and guest expectations.
- Act as the primary operational contact for conference organisers, wedding couples and event clients during delivery.
- Anticipate guest needs and resolve feedback or service issues proactively and professionally.
- Maximise food and beverage revenue through effective upselling and service excellence.
- Oversee conference technology and AV equipment to ensure seamless event delivery.
- Manage stock control, function bar operations and liquor compliance procedures.
- Ensure accurate billing, cash handling and operational administration procedures are followed.
- Create and manage departmental rotas, ensuring labour costs remain aligned with business levels and forecasts.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, training and development of Conference & Events colleagues.
- Manage performance, attendance, one-to-ones, appraisals and employee relations matters.
- Ensure all departmental cleaning, health & safety and brand standards are consistently maintained.
- Participate in the senior management duty rota, providing operational leadership across the hotel as required.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Food & Beverage, Kitchen and Sales teams to drive business performance and guest satisfaction.
About you
Essential
- Previous management or senior supervisory experience within a Conference & Events environment, ideally within a busy hotel operation.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate, coach and develop teams.
- Exceptional customer service focus with a passion for delivering memorable weddings and events.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong commercial awareness, including labour management, revenue generation and cost control.
- Experience managing recruitment, performance, attendance and employee development.
- Good knowledge of hospitality licensing legislation and compliance requirements.
- Sound understanding of Conference & Events technology, including AV systems and presentation equipment.
- High level of organisational ability with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to interpret operational data.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays when required.
Desirable
- Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of Fourth Hospitality Payroll, HMS, Zonal or similar hospitality systems.
- Understanding of departmental budgeting and profit & loss reporting.
- Active involvement in relevant hospitality networks or industry groups.
