Oh, hello! Thanks for being here. At The Mix Global we’re on a mission to make insights famous for the world’s leading brands—not famous in an ego‑driven way, but famous in the sense that the most effective marketing outputs are rooted in human, cultural and behavioral insights. We want to ensure the most pivotal understandings are properly socialized inside companies and across partners. Since 2012, The Mix has been combining the best of qualitative research, strategy, and creativity to inform human and cultural understanding, brand positioning, marketing campaigns, product innovation; the list goes on. Based in London and New York City, but operating globally, we work with some of the world’s biggest brands, including Diageo, Nike, LEGO, New Balance, PepsiCo and Foot Locker. This position is based in our London, UK office, for an initial 8 weeks. Although some in‑office attendance is expected every week or fortnight, we’re fully flexible as to where you work from and when you attend the office.
Why This Role Exists
At The Mix, our design team plays a pivotal role in turning strategy and research into memorable visual stories. Whether through branding, presentations, events, or video content, your work ensures that complex insights become clear and compelling client‑facing deliverables.
What You’ll Own
- Visual Storytelling Across Projects: Create cohesive design assets—from deck layouts and infographics to motion graphics and environmental signage—that support multiple formats and channels.
- Strategy Partnership: Work closely with strategy and research teams to unpack findings and craft visual narratives that educate and engage client audiences.
- Standards & Execution: Maintain consistency and polish across every asset through strong attention to detail and ownership of versioning, templates, and brand alignment.
- Collaborative Attitude: Work within fast‑moving, cross‑functional teams with flexibility and a “can‑do” spirit—comfortable iterating on feedback and embracing changing priorities.
Who We’re Looking For
Core Skills & Experience
- Visual Design Excellence: A good understanding of layout, typography, color theory, hierarchy—demonstrated across branding, presentations, and multimedia channels.
- Strategic Design Thinking: The ability to turn research insights into design strategies that simplify complex ideas.
- Portfolio with Variety: Work spanning brand identity, printed or digital presentations, event graphics, and/or video‑led content.
- Tool Proficiency: Solid Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Figma/Figjam, PowerPoint/Keynote, and familiarity with motion/video as well as creative AI tools (Firefly, Midjourney, Runway etc.) is a plus.
- Detail‑Oriented: You spot inconsistencies others don’t and deliver pixel‑perfect assets every time.
Personal Qualities
- Insightful Communicator: Can explain your design logic, listen to feedback, and align with stakeholders effortlessly.
- Proactive & Flexible: Thrives amid changing project scopes and contributes positively to a supportive, fast‑paced team.
Why You’ll Thrive at The Mix
- Impact Real Work That Matters: Your visuals amplify research into memorable narratives, helping clients understand and act on strategy.
- Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside strategy and research teams, so your designs are not just beautiful, but deeply informed—and effective.
- Growth‑Focused Environment: Develop a portfolio across disciplines, take ownership of creative projects, and continually elevate how design supports storytelling.
Portfolio Expectations
Show your range with at least three case studies or project samples that include:
- The challenge or strategy, and your role in designing the solution.
- Visual assets you crafted (e.g., decks, branding, motion/video, event collateral).
- Outcomes or learnings—especially if solutions simplified complexity, supported narrative arcs, or elevated user/client experience.
