THE ROLE: We’re looking for a commercially-savvy and detail-oriented Business Affairs Manager to join The Midnight Club. Sitting at the intersection of legal, finance, and creative operations, this role is pivotal in ensuring campaigns and content are compliant, contractually sound, and delivered efficiently. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, supporting everything from talent and licensing deals to production budgets and regulatory approvals. This newly created role offers an exciting opportunity for someone with strong experience in business affairs, rights management, or marketing production.
What you’ll be doing:
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts including talent agreements, supplier terms, influencer deals, and licensing arrangements.
- Ensuring all marketing and advertising outputs meet legal, compliance and regulatory standards (e.g., ASA, CAP Code).
- Liaising with legal advisors, clients, and external partners to resolve any contractual or rights issues.
- Managing usage rights, renewals, and compliance timelines for campaigns and digital content.
- Collaborating with producers, creatives, and project managers to ensure deliverables align with contractual obligations and timelines.
- Advising internal teams on best practice regarding intellectual property, data protection, and advertising standards.
- Tracking and managing business affairs budgets related to production, usage, and third-party costs.
- Developing and maintaining internal systems and documentation for rights tracking and approvals.
- Supporting the implementation of risk management protocols across projects.
ABOUT YOU: 3+ years’ experience in business affairs, legal, or commercial roles within marketing, advertising, or media production. Strong understanding of IP, licensing, advertising compliance, and talent usage rights. Strong understanding of the legal and commercial issues associated with producing content. Experience of negotiating content contracts and securing competitive terms. Highly business-oriented operating with a commercial approach which enables a quick response to market changes. Adept at dealing with conflicts and helping devise solutions where trade-offs involved. Confident in communicating with legal teams and senior stakeholders. Able to translate legal jargon into plain, actionable language for non-legal colleagues. Proactive, pragmatic, and solution-oriented mindset. Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines in a high-volume environment. Excellent attention to detail and highly organised. Legal qualifications will be considered a bonus. A genuine interest in the creative and media industry, and how business affairs help power brilliant work.
