Job summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Clinical Educator to join our dynamic team within the Division of Surgery. The Clinical Educator will play a key role in the education and training of healthcare professionals, contributing to the development and delivery of clinical education programs. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in a teaching environment and has a strong interest in surgical education.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead the divisional delivery of training and quality improvement projects for nursing within the clinical environment.
The post holder will need to be dynamic with the ability to create training and deliver programmes to support clinical staff across the whole of the division of surgery, therefore must have a wide variety of clinical experience. The post holder is required to prioritise their own caseload and be a clinical leader with the division.
The post holder will develop programmes in response to MAST requirements, clinical assurance audits, patient safety incidents learning, patient experience or staff feedback.

Job responsibilities
- Coach learners within the clinical environment to adopt new ways of working to improve the care they deliver.
- Ensure that own practice demonstrates current clinical knowledge, credibility and best practice.
- Act as a role model and be recognised as an expert by colleagues.
- Understand key performance indicators and utilise data from a variety of sources including heatmaps, ward accreditation, ward health checks and flo audits to identify bespoke training requirements for clinical areas.
- Plan and maximise opportunities to deliver work-based learning for a variety of registered and non-registered within the AHP/ Midwifery and Nursing workforce.
- Support the development, maintenance and implementation of competency frameworks.
- Be responsible for the management and organisation of own workload.
- Acknowledge any limitations in own knowledge and competency and decline any duties or responsibilities unless able to perform them in a safe and competent manner.
- Participate in the induction, orientation and support programmes of all staff where required.
- Provide professional educational support for a variety of registered and non-registered within the AHP/Midwifery and Nursing workforce.
- Recognise, communicate and praise the achievements of the team and the individuals within the team.
- Ensure that individuals’ specific learning needs are addressed.
- Design, deliver and evaluate education and training packages to support a variety of registered and non-registered workforce to ensure high standards of care are provided to all patients.
- Work with minimum supervision and coordinate own activities to ensure that an efficient service is provided.
- Write reports, undertake audits and be proficient in the use of Microsoft tools to be able to run reports.
- Take on the role of the train the trainer for areas of care identified.
