Role: Technical Manager in the Concrete department.
Location: Mick George Head Office – Huntingdon
Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm
Pay: Dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all concrete operations meet health, safety, and quality standards, including ISO and BSI regulations.
- Oversee the technical performance of concrete plants, create and update mix designs, and ensure batching and sampling are carried out correctly.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues and customer complaints; provide monthly reports to management; support site visits when needed.
- Work with suppliers to improve concrete performance and cost efficiency; maintain technical systems and records; monitor production data; assist with Cemfloor orders to reduce operational risks.
- Be available for site visits when a technical complaint is received and ensure they are logged and the customer is communicated to.
- Review CUSUM data and propose changes to batch books as and when necessary.
- Perform monthly admixture stock control checks.
- Ensure compliance within the wider framework of: The Health and Safety at Work Act; Quality Assurance to ISO 9001/2000; EN206; BSI Kite Mark Accreditation Scheme.
Skills & Qualifications Required
- Valid UK driving licence (Category B or C depending on vehicle requirements).
- Previous management experience in the Concrete Industry.
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and practice.
- Knowledge of ISO9001/14001 and 45001.
- Methodical and flexible in approach to tasks.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good project management skills.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Highly organised and ability to work in a pressurised environment.
- Excellent MS Office skills.
- A pro-active team member.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
