Role: Technical Manager in the Concrete department.

Location: Mick George Head Office – Huntingdon

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

Pay: Dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all concrete operations meet health, safety, and quality standards, including ISO and BSI regulations.
  • Oversee the technical performance of concrete plants, create and update mix designs, and ensure batching and sampling are carried out correctly.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues and customer complaints; provide monthly reports to management; support site visits when needed.
  • Work with suppliers to improve concrete performance and cost efficiency; maintain technical systems and records; monitor production data; assist with Cemfloor orders to reduce operational risks.
  • Be available for site visits when a technical complaint is received and ensure they are logged and the customer is communicated to.
  • Review CUSUM data and propose changes to batch books as and when necessary.
  • Perform monthly admixture stock control checks.
  • Ensure compliance within the wider framework of: The Health and Safety at Work Act; Quality Assurance to ISO 9001/2000; EN206; BSI Kite Mark Accreditation Scheme.

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Valid UK driving licence (Category B or C depending on vehicle requirements).
  • Previous management experience in the Concrete Industry.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and practice.
  • Knowledge of ISO9001/14001 and 45001.
  • Methodical and flexible in approach to tasks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organised and ability to work in a pressurised environment.
  • Excellent MS Office skills.
  • A pro-active team member.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
