Overview

Here at the Mick George Group we are currently recruiting a HGV Class 2 Driver to join the team.

Positions: Concrete or Skip Drivers

Location: Cambridge

Working Hours: Monday – Friday between 6am – 6pm, occasional Saturday work averaging 50 hours per week.

Pay: On target earnings circa £43,000 per annum plus performance related bonuses

Now operating over 600 HGV vehicles from over 40 separate sites, employing more than 1,000 local people, gives an indication of the scale to which the business has evolved over the years and explains why the Mick George Group has grown to become one of the leading suppliers to the Construction Industry in the heart of East Anglia and East Midlands. Our aim is to ensure that we provide the highest possible standards to each and every stakeholder that comes into contact with any aspect of our business, whether that be as an employee, supplier, customer or other.

About the Role

Due to continued growth, we are seeking Class 2 Drivers to join our business and continue driving the business to success. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our existing team of Class 2 Drivers.

Successful applicants must hold a Category C driving Licence, Digital Tachograph card & Driver Qualification card.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-shift and end-of-shift vehicle checks including regular walk around inspections and report any defects found.
  • Adhere to road safety rules, including the Highway Code and Road Traffic Act, and comply with driving regulations like the Working Time Directive and Drivers Hours.
  • Ensure loads are secure and within weight limits and follow site-specific rules.
  • You must maintain vehicle cleanliness, provide excellent customer service, and drive safely and economically. Demonstrate a high level of geographical knowledge.
  • Complete any ad hoc requests.
