Lunchtime controller post at Clewer Green CofE First School, supporting the lunchtime team within the school's Christian ethos. The role centres on looking after children while they eat and play, managing behaviour, and handling first aid and emergencies. It is a term-time post of 1.5 hours a day, five days a week, from 11.45am to 1.15pm. The start is as soon as possible, subject to an enhanced DBS check being received, and visa sponsorship is not available.
What the job involves
- Supervise pupils while they eat and play at lunchtime, in a safe and fun environment
- Prepare the dining area to accommodate all pupils, and leave it clean and tidy for the afternoon
- Apply the school's positive behaviour policy, identifying and dealing with unacceptable behaviour
- Ensure pupils eat acceptably, teaching knife and fork use, good manners and monitoring eating habits
- Encourage healthy eating
- Encourage safe, social interaction and play
- Keep track of individual children's needs so behaviour is handled appropriately
- Deal with emergencies, including first aid, in line with school policy
- Work in collaboration with the catering team
- Encourage acceptance and inclusion of all children, and promote pupils' self-esteem
- Contribute to a positive school environment and act as a role model in dress, punctuality and attendance
- Work within school policies, including safeguarding and health and safety
