This midday supervisory assistant post at Wyvern Academy covers lunchtimes in the dining hall, term time only. The core of the work is keeping pupils safe, settled and treated with dignity, encouraging good table manners and eating habits, and helping set up, clear and clean the dining area. The role is short daily shifts on weekdays, with some pupils who have complex learning needs or need help with communication, social interaction or emotions. Visa sponsorship is not available.
What the job involves
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to make lunchtime safe and supportive
- Supervise pupils in the dining hall, protecting their safety, wellbeing and dignity
- Encourage hygiene, polite table manners and healthy eating
- Support pupils with individual needs so lunchtime goes well for them
- Set up and clear the dining area, keeping the hall clean, tidy and welcoming
- Clean and tidy equipment such as trays, beakers and cutlery
- Keep calm and organised during busy or difficult momentsWork with colleagues to meet every pupil's needs
- Bring energy and positivity to lunchtime
