This Senior Primary Care Nurse post sits in the Primary Care team at HMP Wealstun, a category C male prison run by Practice Plus Group's Health in Justice service. The role leads a multidisciplinary team in a nurse-led service aimed at preventing hospital admissions, with medication rounds, controlled medicines and emergency response. Full time over three days a week, with shifts from 7am to 7.30pm and alternate weekends, it includes the chance to take a prescribing course. Fit depends on NMC registration and passing the vetting and security checks.
What the job involves
- Lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
- Undertake medication rounds
- Dispense controlled medication
- Attend emergency response situations
- Assess patients
- Undertake reception screening
- Provide evidence-based care shaped by patient feedback
- Deliver non-judgemental care

Qualifications
- Current professional nursing qualification
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Registration & licences
- Registered adult nurse with NMC registration
