This Watersports Supervisor and Chief Instructor role sits within Southampton Sport, the University of Southampton's sport and leisure service, at the Watersports Centre, an RYA Accredited Training Centre. The post covers the safe, efficient daily running of the site and its on-water activities, including RYA instruction, plus the upkeep of vehicles and vessels. It is full-time and permanent on set hours averaged at 35 a week, with courses running every day of the week. Holders are expected to hold some instructor qualifications on appointment, and a DBS check is carried out during the offer process.
What the job involves
- Lead the watersports team in the safe and efficient daily running of the facilities and on-water activities
- Ensure safe and smooth operation of the site
- Oversee and deliver on-water activities, including RYA instruction
- Teach activities leading to recognised qualifications such as Power Boat Level 2 or Day-skipper Practical
- Ensure the safe condition of vehicles and vessels
- Take responsibility for the health and safety of all facility users
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience
