This part-time dispenser post sits in the dispensing team at Topcliffe Surgery, a rural practice with around 4,400 patients. The core of the job is accurate medicine supply, keeping dispensary stock and storage in order, and handling prescriptions on time while answering patient queries. The role is 20 hours a week across a Wednesday morning, all day Thursday and a Friday afternoon, with flexibility to cover absences. Applicants need an NVQ level 2 in dispensing; GP dispensary experience and SystmOne skills are desirable.
What the job involves
- Dispense medicines to patients safely and accurately
- Collect prescription charges in line with dispensary protocol
- Maintain dispensary stock levels
- Order, receive and store medication under current policy, keeping the cold chain where needed
- Dispose safely of returned and out-of-date medication
- Process prescriptions within practice time frames
- Advise patients on prescription matters and resolve problems and enquiries
- Keep the dispensary clean, organised and efficient
