This is a permanent full-time post in the operating theatre team at Spire Hartswood Hospital, a private hospital run by Spire Healthcare. The work centres on supporting scrub nurses and consultants during surgery, looking after patients in the anaesthetic room and moving them safely between theatre and the wards. Preparing sterile packs, instruments and equipment and keeping to infection control standards are also central. Fit depends on prior healthcare support or hospital experience and a Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2, and visa sponsorship is not offered.
What the job involves
- Supporting nurses and consultants during surgical procedures
- Assisting scrub nurses within operating theatres
- Supporting patients in the anaesthetic room
- Safely transporting patients to and from theatre and wards
- Opening sterile packs and preparing equipment for procedures
- Preparing, checking and handling surgical instruments
- Maintaining cleanliness, infection prevention and control
- Contributing to a safe, efficient and high-quality theatre environment
- Giving reassurance and support to patients through their theatre experience
What’s required
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, Care Certificate or equivalent
Experience
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Care Assistant, Support Worker or in a hospital setting
