A rotational pharmacy assistant post at the Royal Devon, moving between four pharmacy areas over time. The work covers dispensing inpatient and outpatient prescriptions, stocking wards with medicines, receiving deliveries and preparing cytotoxic medicines in clean rooms. The role is 37.5 hours a week with weekend, late and bank holiday rotas, working alongside technicians and pharmacists. Pharmacy experience and NVQ level 2 are desirable rather than essential, as training is provided.
What the job involves
- Dispensing inpatient and outpatient prescriptions
- Providing reception duties in the dispensary
- Supplying wards with a medicines top-up service
- Assisting with receipt of medicines, including moving and handling boxes of bulk fluids
- Preparing cytotoxic medicines in clean rooms in technical services
- Working with pharmacy technicians, student technicians, pharmacists, the wider multidisciplinary team and members of the public
- Taking part in flexible working, including weekend, late duty and bank holiday rotas as required
Qualifications
- GCSEs at grade C or above in Maths, English and Science
- Good standard of education
