Pharmacy Technician in Swindon

This post sits in the general practice team at Cirencester Health Group, a GP training practice serving about 12,700 patients across two sites. The technician supports the clinical pharmacist with the safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medicines, including repeat requests, medicines reconciliation after discharge and patient medication records. The role also covers clinical audit of prescribing safety, support for e-consultations and telehealth, and liaison with other practices and PCN colleagues. Applicants need GCSE English and Maths and an NVQ level 2 in health and social care.

What the job involves

• Supply prescribed medicines safely and on time under the pharmacist's supervision
• Act as the support point of contact for medicines queries for the clinical pharmacist
• Process repeat medication requests, including converting acute requests to repeat and changing quantities
• Issue prescriptions within agreed protocols and personal competency
• Carry out medicines reconciliation after discharge and other transfers of care
• Keep accurate patient medication records on the clinical system, including advice given and action taken
• Liaise with secondary and primary care colleagues so correct medicines continue after transfers of care
• Monitor practice adherence to the prescribing policy
• Support remote consultation models, including e-consultations, telehealth and telemedicine
• Help implement a robust repeat prescribing system for use across all practices
• Support clinical audit and education to improve prescribing against NICE standards
• Encourage cost-effective prescribing

What's required

Qualifications

• GCSE grade A-C in English and maths
• NVQ level 2 in health and social care
