This Band 5 post sits in the integrated Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service across Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, and is open only to existing staff of those two trusts. The work is nurse-led and mostly clinic-based, covering immunisations, health surveillance, vaccination programmes and sharps injury management under experienced occupational health clinicians. It serves acute and ambulance staff plus external commercial clients, on 37.5 hours a week with flexible and part-time working considered.
What the job involves
- Run occupational health clinics, including immunisations and health surveillance
- Assess and manage sharps and needlestick injuries under Trust and national guidance
- Support pre-employment health screening and immunisation assessments
- Deliver vaccination programmes, including seasonal flu campaigns
- Support safety-critical screening
- Contribute to services for external commercial clients
- Keep accurate, confidential electronic occupational health records
- Escalate complex or high-risk cases to senior occupational health clinicians
- Work within the multidisciplinary team to deliver the service

Registration & licences
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse
Skills & knowledge
- Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and professional accountability
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident using IT systems and electronic records
- Works well in a team and keen to learn
