Brixham College is recruiting a Head of Mathematics to lead the mathematics department across all Key Stages, a middle leadership post within the Thinking Schools Academy Trust. The work centres on setting the department's strategic and operational direction, raising teaching, learning and achievement, and shaping an ambitious curriculum with senior leaders. Within a multi-academy trust, the post brings trust-wide professional development and scope for progression into wider leadership. Visa sponsorship is not available, and the role requires an enhanced DBS check and eligibility to work in the UK.
What the job involves
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the mathematics department
- Drive high standards of teaching, learning and achievement across all Key Stages
- Lead mathematics curriculum development
- Work with senior leaders and colleagues to build an ambitious curriculum
- Support excellent classroom practice
- Ensure every student has the mathematical knowledge, confidence and problem-solving skills to succeed
- Develop the expertise of departmental colleagues
- Contribute to the school's ongoing improvement as a member of the middle leadership team
