This site-based painter and decorator post sits in the site team at Castle View Academy and reports to both the Site Manager and a Cluster Site Manager. The work covers internal and external decoration, surface preparation and minor repairs to plaster, woodwork and fixtures. It is school-based upkeep, so the role also includes general site help and strict attention to COSHH rules and safe storage of paints and chemicals. An enhanced DBS check and right to work in the UK are required, and visa sponsorship is not available.
What the job involves
- Carry out internal and external painting and decorating to a high professional standard
- Prepare surfaces, including sanding, filling, priming and repairing minor defects
- Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper or other finishes as required
- Maintain paintwork, fixtures and fittings across the school
- Carry out minor decoration-related repairs to cracks, damaged plaster, woodwork and fixtures
- Leave work areas clean, tidy and safe on completion
- Report significant defects or safety concerns to the Site Manager
- Assist with general site tasks such as moving furniture and preparing rooms
- Work to school health and safety policies, risk assessments and COSHH guidelines
- Use and maintain tools, ladders and equipment safely
- Store paints, chemicals and materials safely
- Plan decoration projects with the Site Team and report progress, materials needed and issues to the Cluster Site Manager
