This receptionist post sits at Derby Road Practice, a group practice with a multidisciplinary clinical team, and covers reception and general support for patients and staff. The work centres on managing the appointment system, answering calls and signposting patients, and handling repeat prescriptions and correspondence with clinicians and outside services. It is a part-time role of roughly 12 hours a week, split between fixed Wednesday and Friday shifts, with some flexibility needed within opening hours. Prior experience is preferred but not essential.
What the job involves
- Maintain and monitor the appointment system, processing personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
- Answer incoming calls, transfer them or resolve callers' requests, and signpost patients to the correct service
- Greet and direct patients arriving at reception
- Action repeat prescriptions so they are ready within 72 hours, and manage medication requests from external parties
- Act as the central point of contact for patients, clinicians and external agencies, handling messages and enquiries
- Enter data for new and temporary registrations and update patient healthcare records
- Direct requests for information such as SARs, solicitor and insurance letters and DVLA forms to the Business Manager
- Administer E-consults and read Systm1 code data
- Run system searches as requested and manage queries efficiently
- Train on and deliver document workflow
- Support clinical staff with general tasks as requested
- Keep the reception area, notice boards and working area clean and tidy
