This bank Healthcare Assistant post sits on the surgical ward at Spire Portsmouth Hospital, part of Spire Healthcare Ltd, and covers busy periods, sickness and leave on a flexible basis. The work centres on monitoring patients, escalating significant changes in their condition and helping with patient movement. Shifts run seven days a week as either long days from 0700 to 1930 or nights from 1900 to 0730. Applicants need prior HCA or equivalent clinical experience, including ECGs, blood pressure readings and observations.
What the job involves
- Support the surgical ward team in providing patient care
- Contribute to the support and monitoring of patients
- Identify and report significant changes that could affect a patient's health and wellbeing to the appropriate person
- Assist with moving patients in line with hospital policies
Experience
- Previous experience as an HCA or equivalent in a clinical environment
- Experience of ECGs, taking blood and blood pressures, and patient observations
Skills & knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- NVQ Level 3
