The work centres on individualised patient care, assessing needs and developing care plans, giving medicines safely and keeping accurate records. It sits within a multidisciplinary medical team, with ward-based supervision and encouragement to attend training. Current first-level NMC registration is required.

- Deliver high quality, individualised and compassionate care to patients
- Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care plans without supervision
- Keep skills and knowledge up to date
- Comply with NMC professional registration and keep up to date with current nursing practice
- Deliver patient care to a proficient standard
- Administer medicines safely in line with NMC and local policies
- Keep accurate records in line with Trust policy and NMC guidelines
- Carry out nursing procedures and techniques to agreed policies and standards
- Complete regular mandatory training
