This Sustainability Manager post sits within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, covering Peterborough, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford & Rutland hospitals plus the community estate. The postholder leads environmental sustainability, drives the Trust's Green Plan and moves the organisation towards Net Zero. What the job involves
- Lead Trust-wide on environmental sustainability, providing expert analysis on complex matters
- Drive implementation of the Trust's Green Plan
- Progress the organisation towards Net Zero and decarbonisation
- Drive transformational change in sustainability and carbon emissions
- Be responsible for sustainability at Peterborough Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Stamford & Rutland Hospital and the community estate
- Travel between sites to ensure the required standards are met across the Trust
What’s required
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent specialist knowledge in a science, environmental or other relevant discipline
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional body, such as IEMA
- Sustainability, waste, energy or facilities management qualification
- NEBOSH or IOSH health and safety qualification
- Membership of an appropriate professional body, such as IEMA, IWFM, RICS or HEFMA
Experience
- Experience of working in an estates or facilities role
- Experience of developing organisational policies and procedures
- Extensive experience of managing energy or waste contracts
- Experience of public sector tendering for service contracts, including the OJEU procurement process
- Knowledge and experience of procurement and tendering for specialist advice or services
Skills & knowledge
- Specialist knowledge of sustainability and environmental management
- Working knowledge of waste management legislation
- Knowledge of NHS policies, procedures and structures
Nice to have
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject, such as environmental management
