This permanent role sits in the Delivery Frontline team at NHS Property Services, covering several NHS sites across Southend and Essex. The core of the work is keeping healthcare environments clean to NHS National Cleaning Standards, including legionella flushing, waste handling, and using and maintaining cleaning equipment. It is a mobile post, so the postholder moves between sites in a company van on weekday evening shifts. A full UK driving licence and a standard DBS are needed, and prior cleaning experience is not essential.
What the job involves
- Ensure healthcare environments meet NHS National Cleaning Standards
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across healthcare facilities
- Carry out legionella flushing and record the activity accurately
- Safely handle and dispose of waste
- Use and maintain cleaning equipment, including vacuums, floor machines and steam cleaners
- Comply with COSHH requirements
- Report equipment faults through NHSPS systems
- Replenish cleaning supplies and consumables
- Support a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues
