A permanent part-time driver post in the UEL Transport team, based at Southampton General Hospital, with UHS Estates Limited, a subsidiary of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. The work centres on moving staff, post, samples, pharmacy items and supplies between hospitals, medical centres and practices, along with daily vehicle checks. Shifts fall within a 0600 to 2030 window and cover minibuses and 7.5 tonne vehicles, so local knowledge of Southampton is needed. Fit turns on a full licence with no more than 3 points and D1 entitlement for minibuses.
What the job involves
- Move UHS and UEL supplies safely and within compliance rules
- Transport staff to and from their place of work
- Deliver mail and parcels to hospitals, medical centres and practices
- Transport bloods, pharmacy items, linen, specimens, clinical equipment and food
- Carry out transport tasks as per the schedule or as the Head Driver directs
- Complete daily vehicle checks using driver instruction sheets
- Report vehicle defects to the Transport Supervisor
- Drive at all times within the Road Traffic Act
- Carry out all duties in a helpful and courteous manner

- Previous driving experience in the Southampton area
