Avery Healthcare Group's Sonning Gardens Care Home is recruiting a Care Assistant to join its care team. The post centres on personal care for residents, promoting their independence and dignity, and spotting clinical risks such as falls, pressure sores and infection so they can be escalated quickly. No prior experience is needed, as an induction and training programme is provided, though a DBS check and proof of right to work are required.
What the job involves
- Deliver high standards of personal care and contribute to the care team to ensure continuity of services
- Assist residents with all personal hygiene care, supporting their independence, dignity and respect
- Recognise clinical risk areas such as weight loss, pressure sores, risk of falls and signs of infection, and upscale identified risks in a timely manner
- Act courteously towards residents and visitors, respecting each resident's dignity and individuality
- Practise safe systems of work across the range of tasks
Skills & knowledge
- Effective communication, verbal and written
- Initiative, and respect towards residents and others in the home
- Efficient working, able to carry out reasonable instructions from team members
- Adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice
- Commitment to the values of caring, supportive, honest, respectful and accountable
