What the job involves
- Manage and work with Rota Co-ordinators to create and distribute rotas to set deadlines
- Manage the day-to-day running of medical staffing rotas for Emergency Department, Acute Medicine and Medicine on call
- Line manage the Rota Team and ensure key performance targets are met
- Deputise for the Service Manager, including attending regular update meetings with clinical colleagues
- Monitor weekly rota cover and plan ahead to meet core staffing requirements
- Deputise for the Service Manager to ensure safe staffing levels on ward areas
- Act as the point of contact for escalations and help solve problems
- Liaise with stakeholders and attend regular planning meetings
- Work with the Service Manager to monitor expenditure and cost improvements, reducing medical locum spend and suggesting cost-effective ways to staff safely
Qualifications
- Degree or management qualification, or willingness to work towards one
Experience
- Demonstrable NHS management experience, including staff management, budgetary responsibility and performance targets
- Experience of rota management for medical staff or similar
Skills & knowledge
- High level of communication skills
- Evidence of problem solving

- Understanding of budgetary management
