Avery Healthcare is recruiting a bank Registered Nurse for Elvy Court Care Home, a home for older people. The core of the work is acting as person in charge when the Manager is away, alongside hands-on nursing tasks. Its distinct feature is supervising care staff across each duty period and keeping families and GPs informed of changes in residents' condition. Current NMC registration and at least two years' experience are needed, along with a DBS check.
What the job involves
- Act as person in charge, standing in for the Manager as required and acting on their behalf
- Ensure high standards of care for residents
- Undertake nursing tasks including medication, dressings, catheterisation, tube feeding and management of chronic conditions
- Advise families of residents and GPs of changes in condition and keep them involved in care choices
- Deploy and supervise care staff so that tasks are completed and residents receive required care during each duty period
- Provide high standards of care through accurate assessment and care planning
Qualifications
- First Level qualification
- Relevant post-basic studies or qualification
Registration & licences
- Current NMC registration
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' experience
- Up-to-date knowledge of care
Skills & knowledge
- Good interpersonal skills
- Instructing and demonstrating care activities
- Sound knowledge of care planning and its practical application
