This senior engineering post sits within the CHIMES Innovation and Knowledge Centre, one of four UKRI-funded national centres supporting the UK electronics and semiconductor industry. The work centres on designing analog and mixed-signal interfaces, especially PHY-level die-to-die circuits, for co-created demonstrators with industry partners. Alongside delivery, the role promotes reusable design methods to partner teams, contributes to workshops, involves UK travel, and requires strict confidentiality. Fit depends on hands-on analog/mixed-signal expertise and knowledge of design flows, PDKs, packaging and design-for-test.
What the job involves
- Provide hands-on analog/mixed-signal design across co-creation PoC projects
- Take primary responsibility for PHY-level interface design at die-to-die boundaries, including drivers, receivers, ESD structures, termination and clocking
- Define integration-level requirements and interface specifications
- Coordinate with digital design and verification colleagues
- Carry out integration-level physical design, including floorplanning, I/O ring planning and interface layout across dies, interposers and substrates
- Develop reusable design methodologies and assets, acting as Technical Authority on key areas such as PHY interfaces, custom pad circuits and analog/digital interfaces
- Help develop functioning HI demonstrators with the Co-Creation Project Lead and partner design teams, resolving analog/mixed-signal challenges at their interfaces
- Support partners in applying the Centre's reusable design assets and hold peer-to-peer technical dialogue with their design teams
- Contribute to technical workshops and design masterclasses to upskill the UK design community
- Represent the Centre's analog/mixed-signal capabilities at industry events and conferences
- Maintain confidentiality of information and data, including assets held under strict disclosure agreements
