SEMH Mentor

This SEMH Mentor post sits at Tavistock College, one of the colleges run by Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust. The work centres on helping pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs learn, feel well and progress, so they can take part in lessons and settle in school. The mentor works alongside teaching and pastoral staff and external agencies to put in place approaches that encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation. Visa sponsorship is not available, and the post starts as soon as possible.

What the job involves

• Support the learning, wellbeing and development of pupils with SEMH needs
• Help pupils with SEMH needs access the curriculum and thrive in school
• Work with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies
• Implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Implement strategies that support academic progress
• Follow Trust policies on data use, including acceptable use, e-safety, social media and the employee code of conduct
• Keep confidential any personal data seen before the first day of employment
