The Patient Engagement Lead sits within the Health in Justice team at Practice Plus Group, based at HMP Altcourse, the busiest remand prison in England. The post centres on improving patient experience, running health promotion and patient forums, and turning patient feedback into service changes. It is a visible, wing-based role in a secure prison, working with healthcare staff, prison colleagues and outside partners on weekday day shifts. Offers are subject to vetting and security checks, and applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
What the job involves
- Leading the health promotion calendar and producing a monthly themed health newsletter
- Coordinating, facilitating and evaluating patient forums across the prison
- Maintaining a regular presence on the wings to gather insight, build rapport and improve patient experience
- Supporting the delivery and training of Healthcare Champions
- Representing healthcare at User Voice meetings and building working relationships with staff and partner organisations
- Monitoring, analysing and responding to patient feedback, concerns, compliments and complaints
- Gathering patient experience insight to inform service improvements
- Contributing to the Patient Engagement Strategy and wider quality improvement work
