Four temporary fixed-term Best Start Inclusion Practitioner posts sit within the Family Hubs team in Rotherham Council's Children and Young People Services. The work is direct support for babies, children and young people, with a focus on those with additional needs and SEND, delivered alongside families and partner agencies. Practitioners work in homes, Family Hubs and community settings, and plan inclusive groups such as sensory and stay-and-play sessions. An enhanced DBS check is required.
What the job involves
- Work directly with children and families in homes, Family Hubs and community settings to identify strengths, needs and support opportunities
- Deliver targeted interventions and practical advice to improve child development and family wellbeing
- Plan and facilitate inclusive groups and activities, including sensory sessions, stay and play and parenting interventions
- Support families to access universal, targeted and specialist services, ensuring equitable access
- Work with multi-agency partners to provide coordinated support and remove barriers to participation
- Champion inclusive practice and guide colleagues and partner organisations
- Build trusting relationships with families through a strengths-based, child-centred and inclusive approach
What’s required
Experience
- Experience of working with children, families and communities
- Experience of multi-agency working
Skills & knowledge
- Strong understanding of child development, inclusion and early intervention
- Skill in building positive relationships and supporting families to achieve meaningful change
- Ability to manage own workload, use initiative and respond to changing situations
- Excellent communication skills for engaging families, colleagues and partner agencies
