Ranger post in the Rights of Way and Countryside Team at East Sussex County Council, maintaining public rights of way and countryside sites across the county. The work is hands-on, covering bridges and stiles, tree felling, vegetation clearance and fixing problems such as boggy ground, stuck vehicles and breakdowns. Much of the time is spent liaising with landowners and the public, outdoors in all weathers and often on rough terrain, across a 37-hour week. A full driving licence is needed, and certification such as chainsaw use is only for later progression, not entry.
