The Gables Surgery is seeking a senior practice nurse for a small, busy practice of around 5,000 patients, working alongside two other part-time nurses. The post centres on leading the practice nurse team, managing a personal patient list and overseeing templates, registers and infection control audits. The practice also hosts the weekend PCN hub and has two advanced nurse practitioners as partners, with a pharmacist on site. Applicants need qualified practice nurse experience and prior lead nurse experience.
What the job involves
- Lead the practice nurse team and oversee other nurses and healthcare support staff
- Manage own patient list on a daily and weekly basis
- Delegate work to others where appropriate
- Identify priorities and manage time to ensure quality care is delivered
- Lead infection control audits and clinical CQC work
- Work on own initiative
- Educate patients to make better choices about their health
- Oversee daily templates and patient registers
