This part-time Engagement Officer post sits in the Communications and Engagement Team at Torfaen County Borough Council. The role leads public engagement across the council and works with the local service board on strategic engagement tied to corporate plan priorities, including the Torfaen Deal. It also manages the council's online engagement hub and people's panel, and co-ordinates work with the Children and Young People Engagement and Participation Officer. Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential, and applications may be made in English or Welsh.
What the job involves
- Lead and promote public engagement across the council
- Work with the local service board to deliver strategic engagement aligned to corporate plan priorities, including the Torfaen Deal
- Co-ordinate borough-wide engagement activities
- Integrate public engagement into the council's business
- Lead on developing the council's engagement tools and techniques
- Manage the council's online engagement hub and people's panel
- Support meaningful and principled public and staff engagement and consultation
- Co-ordinate engagement activities with the Children and Young People Engagement and Participation Officer where appropriate
Experience
- Proven experience of coordinating borough-wide engagement activities
- Proven experience of integrating public engagement into the business of an organisation
- Experience of leading on the development of engagement tools and techniques
